For Improved Leadership, Think Like a Martial Artist

Cleveland, OH, June 6, 2006 - With employee dissatisfaction at an all-time high, leadership expert Tim Warneka, author of Leading People the Black Belt Way: Conquering the Five Core Problems Facing Leaders Today advises people to think like a martial artist. “Like the martial arts, all leadership is essentially about two things: relationship and power,” says Warneka.

“Between 70% and 80% of all workers are not emotionally committed to their work, costing the U.S. economy over $300 billion dollars annually,” observes Warneka, the president of the Black Belt Consulting Group (www.blackbeltconsultants.com). Drawing on the professional research he has done during the last 3 years, Warneka identified the five most crucial problems leaders must manage today. “Leaders who understand how to relate to their workers are shown to be more successful in the long run,” notes Warneka.

According to the American Management Association, despite the fact that leaders deal with people every day, very few leaders are actually trained in successful people skills. “Programs like Six Sigma are very important in terms of manufacturing,” notes Warneka, “but these programs were never designed to address the ‘people’ portion of the success equation.”

Combining the strength of Emotional Intelligence research with the power of the revolutionary non-violent martial art of Aikido, Leading People the Black Belt Way: Conquering the Five Core Problems Facing Leaders Today takes an objective, scientific approach toward helping leaders successfully manage the ‘people’ part of every success equation. The result is a readable and informative book.

Warneka will be signing copies of his book this Thursday (6/8/06) at 7:00 p.m. at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Legacy Village, Beachwood, Ohio.
