Counselor & Coach Offers Free E-mail Tip-sheet to Help Parents Talk to their Children about Terrorism

(Cleveland, Ohio). Timothy Warneka, M.Ed., LPCC, a mental health professional expert in working with traumatized children is offering a tip sheet entitled, “Ten Tips to Talking with Children About Terrorism”. “I’ve had a number of parents ask me variations on the same question: ‘How do I talk about this tragedy with my children?’ I believe that this is a question that many parents are struggling with, so I wanted to provide some answers,” said Mr. Warneka. The free tip-sheet can be obtained by visiting Tim on-line at:

Mr. Warneka, a parenting and leadership expert from Cleveland, Ohio noted ,“After the tragic terrorist attack of this week, I wanted to offer something, even if only in some small way, to help our Nation as we begin to deal with this event. So I created this tip sheet to be distributed by e-mail.”

Mr. Warneka has 9 years experience as a psychotherapist in outpatient work with traumatized children and adolescents at a local community mental health center. “In my work with children, adolescents and families who use violent behavior, I see the impact that violence has on families on a daily basis,” said Mr. Warneka. The events of this week have multiplied that impact a thousand-fold across our Nation. Whether an attack by a terrorist or a family member, the initial impact on people exposed to violence is the same: anger, frustration, powerlessness and a deep sense that the world may not be the safe place that we thought it was before the attack. Yet one of our primary jobs as parents is to help our children experience safety. This tip sheet is one step small toward supporting parents to help their children feel safe again,” Warneka said.
